Alexander Skarsgard and Kenneth From 30 Rock Are the Unlikely BFFs We Didn't Know We Needed

Big Little Lies Season 2: Alexander Skarsgard Returns!

Big Little Lies was the surprise hit of 2017.

Despite originally being billed as a limited series, the success of the show paved the way for it to become an ongoing series, and Season 2 is expected to debut on HBO in 2019.

According to TV Line, Alexander Skarsgard will return to the series in some capacity. Given that Big Little Lies Season 1 focused on the murder of Perry Wright, the character will likely return in flashbacks.

Either that or the series will step into soap territory and bring Skarsgard back as Perry's twin brother. That would probably be a step too far, but some shows have succeeded by going that route to bring an actor back.

We're still in shock that we're even getting more episodes. When the show premiered, director Jean-Marc Valée was adamant that it would not go beyond Season 1.

However, HBO did not want to part ways with the

Alexander Skarsgard, ‘the tall dude from True Blood,’ jokes that he’s a better actor than Robert De Niro [Watch]

“Yeah, that makes sense,” said a gobsmacked Alexander Skarsgard after winning the 2018 SAG Award on Sunday, January 21 for his role as abusive husband Perry Wright on HBO’s “Big Little Lies.” One of the men he beat out was legendary actor Robert De Niro (“The Wizard of Lies”), which Skarsgard joked about at the podium. “A lot of people have been talking about who the greatest male actor ever is. Is it Mr. Robert De Niro? Or the tall dude from ‘True Blood’? The thespians have spoken!” Watch Skarsgard’s SAG acceptance speech above.

Skarsgard’s joke went off well in the room filled with fellow actors. Even the notoriously unemotional De Niro managed to give a slight smile. “Seriously, SAG-AFTRA, I am shocked, I am humbled,” continued Skarsgard. “I am incredibly embarrassed and infinitely grateful. Thank you, thank you so much for this.”

The story of Detective Pikachu centers around Smith’s character’s father getting kidnapped. He teams up with Pikachu (Reynolds) to help find him. Newton plays a journalist who helps them on their quest. Ken Watanabe will play a new character created for the film called Detective Yoshida.

The movie is being directed by Goosebumps director Rob Letterman from a script that is being written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch
