A young woman grows up to be a stone-cold assassin after witnessing her parents' murder as a child in Bogota. She works for her uncle as a hitman by day, but her personal time is spent engaging in vigilante murders that she hopes will lead her to her ultimate target - the mobster responsible for her parents' death. The memory card being used at the beginning of the movie, which the young Colombiana swallows then vomits up, is a SmartMedia card, manufactured by Toshiba in 1995. When the agent is wiping it off, you can see the silver circle under his thumb. This was the write protect sticker. He then puts it in a floppy adapter which made it readable by any PC with a 3.5" floppy drive. See more »
Cataleya states that her parents were killed in front of her when she was nine years old, yet the end credits list her as being ten in the flashback. Also, in the edited version released for cinemas, her parents were killed outside the apartment where Cataleya sits. So she only hears the gunshots, but never actually sees her parents die, or even their dead bodies. (Although in the full version of the film, she sees both her parents die, one after the other.) Don't believe the haters... this movie is a definite GO !!!
I guess some people just expect an award winning movie and actors every time they step foot into a theatre. I was doubtful about this movie in spite of the decent trailers. From start to finish I was blown away with the storyline and its continuous different turns. Maybe its not completely original in terms of the overall story, but what movie is these days. Colombiana keeps you glued to the screen. It has moments of love and drama, and then it brings out the action and suspense. I have not written a review in quite some time, but when a movie is receiving undue praise or criticism then i feel obligated to disclose the truth to the public. Do yourself a favor and go see it.
