‘Arrow’: New Action-Packed Trailer Sees the City in Peril with the Team Divided

After almost losing me, Arrow's fifth season brought me back around as a fan in a big way. While I was never really sold on the Newbies, the Prometheus storyline -- and Oliver having to learn about consequences -- was enough to keep me interested. Season 6 is starting to lose me again, but a new trailer premiered by Stephen Amell today on Facebook does provide some hope. With a collective of supervillains for a fractured Team Arrow to face, it allows for a lot more action and higher stakes, as they fight a war on multiple fronts. Plus, it's …

Santa Barbara Film Festival to Open as Planned in Wake of Montecito Mudslides

The Santa Barbara Film Festival is moving ahead as planned with its 33rd edition, opening on Jan. 31, in the wake of the fires and flooding that recently devastated the city, leaving 20 victims dead in the Montecito area.

Roger Durling, executive director of the festival, addressed the issue Wednesday in a letter that said, “Many people have been asking me if the Santa Barbara International Film Festival will take place. My answer is an emphatic ‘Yes.'”

He continued, “How do you do a film festival following the immense tragedy unfolding in Montecito and Southern California? Well — the honest answer is that it is needed now more than ever. Movies have always provided a sense of community. It is an opportunity for people to gather, reflect, experience, feel, and process.”

Durling noted that during the Great Depression, Americans flocked to theaters. “They did not do this because movies can be easily categorized as a distraction,” he said. “Yes

Joaquin Phoenix’s ‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot’ Casting Slammed as Offensive by Ruderman Disability Foundation
Joaquin Phoenix’s latest role in Gus Van Sant’s “Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot” finds him stepping into the real-life shoes of paraplegic cartoonist John Callahan, but not everyone is happy the director cast an able-bodied actor to play a disabled character. The Ruderman Family Foundation, a national leader in disability inclusion, has criticized the movie for the casting decision, saying it is “offensive to the disability community” and “overlooks the opportunity to cast actors with disabilities to play characters with disabilities.”

A few weeks ago on the set of Black Lightning in Atlanta, showrunner Salim Akil sat down with reporters to talk about his new series. Since we had been able to preview the first two episodes, there were a lot of specific questions about choices that were made, and Akil's influences when it came to creating this TV iteration of the character. ‘Britannia’ Trailer: ‘Game Of Thrones’ Goes Rock ‘n Roll

There’s going to be over 500 scripted TV shows on the dial this year, but we tried to whittle it down just just 50 for our Most Anticipated TV Shows Of 2018 feature. “Brittania” made the cut, and since “Game Of Thrones” is skipping a year before its final season in 2019, this could help fill the void.

David Morrissey, Kelly Reilly, Zoe Wanamaker, Ian McDiarmid and Mackenzie Crook star in the series that takes place in 43 Ad (very olden tymes), and centers on the Romans quest for power over the Celtics.
